The design requirement for this garden centre was to create a ‘fascinating indoor environment’  in contrast with the drab shops generally set up by nurserymen and seed merchants.

Inside a large sky-lit hall, an informal meandering path takes the customers around the  various ‘plant beds’, with the plants being displayed for sale. The merchandise, also becomes part of landscape design, lending a variety of colors and textures to the whole ambience. A small fountain at the entrance and certain permanent beds of not-for-sale plants, especially the stunning collection of Echinocactus, retain the visual continuity. The customers, thus, have an experience of being in a garden while shopping for their favourite plants and seeds.
